Ermar Alexander and Diana Fauner have applied for the One and Other project. They met artist Antony Gormley, who is also the creator of the famous Angel of the North.
"This summer 2,400 people from all over the UK will create an incredible living monument - the brainchild of the artist Antony Gormley. Every hour, 24 hours a day for 100 days, a different person will step up to the Fourth Plinth and help make a living portrait of the UK now." (taken from www.oneandother.co.uk)
On 15 May 2009 9am, a photocall was held; Alexander and Fauner took time off their works to attend this event, which is very meaningful for the British population, particularly Londoners.
Filipino martial arts has been in the country for decades yet it is still quite unknown to the general public. Alexander and Fauner have a vision to educate and let people know that this form of martial art exists. One of the first steps to do this is to get into the public's eye, and what more better way is there than to stand and perform on the prestigious Fourth Plinth on Trafalgar Square. Alexander and Fauner have been part of the Great Britain team to represent the UK in World stickfighting competitions.
We are crossing our fingers that we will be chosen in the final selection. Two people are not enough to show what Filipino martial arts has to offer.
