28th June 2009. London Regatta Centre. Royal Albert Docks. 12pm-5pm.

We were invited to perform at the annual London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival at the River Thames which was flocked by thousands of visitors of all nationalities. The event was to help raise funds for Chinese charities in London.

It was a whole day of racing which involved 42 teams, raising funds for the local Chinese community organisations.

For spectators, there were special shows on stage with performances such as a traditional Chinese umbrella dance, young Chinese modern dancers, musicians and singers, kung-fu and lion dancing and of course, the neighbors of the Chinese, the Filipinos!

We represented the Filipino community by performing a demonstration of the Filipino martial art of Eskrima. Various aspects such as sayaw (forms), sparring, sinuwali, espada y daga, knife and empty hands techniques were showcased.

The group was introduced by Filipino-Chinese host Stephen Cheung, who recently ran for MP at the European elections.

The stage was sponsored by Spectrum Radio, who have given full support to us.

It was a beautiful and fun day. Looking forward to future events with the Chinese community!
