This year is the second year of the Mitcham British-Filipino Association and Doce Pares once again supported the group in representing our beloved country, the Philippines, in the multi-cultural Mitcham Carnival on 12 June 2010, Saturday.
The day began with a street parade from Figges Marsh to Mitcham Common. Upon arrival at the main carnival area, all communities were introduced and met by the Mitcham Mayor. Afterwards, the area was cleared and the various communities performed to show their skills and talents.
The Mitcham British-Filipino Association's performance consisted of a demonstration of Filipino martial arts by Doce Pares, then followed by a lovely Filipiniana dance performance by the MBFA.
A lot of spectators came up and congratulated the group. A special award was given to the MBFA for their participation, and to Manolo, Doce Pares' mascot, as he managed to join the whole parade with a very positive attitude and wearing his Doce Pares uniform too.
Congratulations to the Mitcham British-Filipino Association on your second year and more power!!
