The film traces the development of Eskrima from its origins in tribal warfare, as an art of duelists, and its transformation into a sport practiced in over 30 countries. Eskrimadors is Filipino Martial Arts as you've never seen before.

The film features legendary Eskrima Grandmasters of Cebu such as Ciriaco "Cacoy" Canete, SGM Dionisio "Diony" Canete, and GM Undo Caburnay. Groups such as Doce Pares, Lapunti Arnis de Abanico, Teovel's Balintawak, Nickelstick Balintawak, and Liborio Heyrosa Decuerdas, allow us a sneak peek into the deadly techniques which have made Cebuano Eskrima renowned the world over.

Plot
The film documents the development of the martial arts of eskrima. Tracing its origins from the tribal warfares of the Philippines to its practice among international martial artists.

Production - Development
According to Kerwin Go, the idea of the film came about when the production staff thought of making a film that was uniquely Cebuano in scope and identity, but had the capability to reach out to a worldwide audience.

Production - Filming
The film was shot in several locations in Cebu including: downtown Cebu, Pasil district and Bogo in the northern part of Cebu. It include interviews with grandmasters and well crafted reenactments.

Production - Release and marketing
Eskrimadors was premiered on January 30, 2010 in Cebu, Philippines. The film which was already in post-production by 2009 was set for release for by the end year but release was moved to January due to the Metro Manila Film Festival.

The film was released just in time the bill proposing Eskrima as a national martial arts of the Philippines passed.

During the première, live demonstrations from different Eskrima groups including Cacoy Cañete, now in his 90's, opened the night. After the movie was screened, the grandmasters were awarded their certificates of appreciation for their continued practice and promotion of the art of Eskrima. It was a historical moment as 12 Grandmasters are on the same stage at the same time.
